Good afternoon and Happy New Year,
I am pleased to announce that we are gearing up for the Teen Safe Driving program. The Teen Safe Driving Program will be for current DCPS students only age 15 to 18. Students will be able to earn a learner’s permit and can earn a waiver for their operator’s license. Students that are selected to participate in the Teen Safe Driving Program will be required to enter into the video contest to possibly earn a $4,000.00 scholarship from the Self Movement and Allstate Insurance Company. The Scholarship opportunity is also for other students that may want to participate. For more information on the video contest please visit www.theselfmovement.org. The Teen Safe Driving Program is limited to 30 students per site. Upon selection, students and parents will be notified via email.

I need to enlist your help to make sure that we get at least 30 students from each of your schools to participate in the program. The objective of the program is to give proper instruction and allow the students to apply the skill learned in the classroom and range on the road. It is also based around awareness of distracted driving. Presentations will be taking place during the class meeting for student to learn the dangers of distracted driving. If you are able to help please let me know. Application will be ready for distribution by the end of the week and they will have a deadline of January 29th. The students can turn them back in to your office and I will collect them at one time from each site. The program is tentatively scheduled to begin February 20th 2016 and last for 8 weeks. Please help make the program a success.

If you have any further question please feel free to contact me via email or by phone call. Thank you for all that you do for DCPS students.
