National PTA Reflections Program

Your students are invited to participate in the National PTA Reflections Program.
Reflections is a nationwide arts appreciation and recognition program for students in grades PK-12. The program allows students to express themselves artistically based on a common theme.  This year’s theme is "Within Reach"
To participate, students submit an original art piece, inspired by the annual theme, in any of the six arts areas:
·         Visual Arts
·         Photography
·         Dance Choreography
·         Musical Composition
·         Literature
·         Film Production

Entries that relate the artwork to the theme receive highest scores.  Interpretation of Theme is worth 50% of the total judges’ score. (Artistic Merit/Creativity 25%, Mastery of Medium 25%)
Entries are due Thursday, November 9th by 9:00 am in the Atrium.  Submission Requirements have changed this year so be sure to read all the rules carefully to prevent disqualification.  The General Rules and the specific rules for each category are available at  http://floridapta.org/programs/reflections.  Attached is brief summary of the rules for each arts category.
Douglas Anderson students submitted 33 entries in the 2016-2017 PTA Reflections Program. Of that, 23 entries were judged at the County level, 7 entries received the County’s Honorable Mention, and 14 entries were forwarded to the State level for competition. 5 entries received the State’s Honorable Mention and 2 entries were forwarded to the National PTA where both entries were nationally awarded.
We are asking you to please discuss and encourage your students to create and submit their best work on November 9th.
