The Office of College Readiness offers 3 enrichment programs STEPS (Solutions To Exploring PostsecondarySuccess), GRADS (Gaining Resources And Developing Skills) and FAME (Finally Affirming My Enrollment) students may select from in grades six through twelve. Each program is distinctively designed to enhance participants’ academic pursuit while enrolled to successfully graduate from high school and effectively pursue postsecondary education. Through these initiatives, students and parents are enlightened academically and socially.
Your students in grades nine through twelve will gain a clear vision of their journey to college when they participate in the Finally Affirming My Enrollment (FAME) Program. FAME is an intensive high school initiative designed to further increase high school students’ understanding of the college process and procedures.Students learn how to plan and prepare for successfully graduating from high school and effectively attaining a college degree. Sessions and workshops are geared toward promoting academic and social progression. Students are engaged in learning opportunities to help them better understand who they are, who they wish to become and which interest factors can help them with the selection of a program of study and a career that is a best fit for them. They receive valuable information from professionals about financial aid, college entrance requirements and application processes, degree/certificate types, life skills, and scholarships. Students tour Florida’s colleges/universities, participate in college panel discussions, attend social etiquette sessions, engage in financial/career workshops and other educational enrichment activities that promote productive postsecondary transiting. Students who participate in FAME learn marketable skills that can be used for a lifetime.
