Takes about 5 minutes to complete. All Seniors should be applying whether you think you qualify or not! You do not need to be eligible yet to apply. Work with your school counselors if you have questions. Directions and eligibility requirements are further down below. Input June 5, 2024 as the graduation date (all DCPS schools use this date for the application).
Make sure you have turned in your work/service hours and complete the Bright Futures Application if you want the opportunity to be locked in and considered for early evaluation for the scholarship. During the Early Evaluation process Florida Department of Education (FL DOE) will award Bright Futures (BF) Scholarships to any senior who qualified for any level of BF Award by the end of the 7th semester. To qualify for early evaluation, students must meet all scholarship requirements to include qualifying GPA, test scores, and work/service hours (indicated on student's transcript) by the end of the 7th semester. Students who are determined eligible during the Early Evaluation period will not lose an award unless they fail to earn a standard Florida high school diploma. Please submit all work/service hours by end of day Monday, January 22 to be considered for Early Evaluation.
Seniors still have until the end of the 8th semester to qualify or become eligible for a higher award amount. The 8th semester awards are not updated by FL DOE until summer. So seniors who STILL NEED to earn work/service hours, test scores and/or a qualifying GPA still have time this school year to become eligible.
If we do not have your social security # on file you either need to NOT ENTER your social security # (SSN) on the Bright Futures Application, OR bring a copy of your social security card to the school counseling office (before you apply) for it to be entered onto your transcript. Otherwise your bright futures application (FFAA) will not go through. When in doubt, leave the SSN field blank, and the system will automatically generate a Pseudo Number, which they will use to access your records.
Official qualifying SAT/ACT scores need to be sent by the student to at least one of Florida's State Public College/Universities (https://www.flbog.edu/universities/ excluding Florida Polytechnic University).
