Girls Incorporated of Jacksonville
Girls Inc. of Jacksonville’s celebration of Girls’ Rights
Week is a national observance to raise awareness of girls’ rights and celebrate
girls’ blazing trails, defying stereotypes and asserting their rights.
Our 2013 celebration includes honoring girls in our community
in the 5th, 8th and 12th grades, who have outstanding achievements in ONE of
these areas: Academics, Activism, Arts and Athletics. Douglas Anderson may nominate one student per achievement area for their
outstanding accomplishments from the 2012-2013 school year.
Interested students should submit a request to Mrs. White in
guidance no later than March 12 to be considered for nomination addressing the
following in a one page narrative:
- Accomplishments in her area of focus: Academic, Arts, Activism, or Athletics
- Student academic standing
- Citizenship and Leadership
Interested applicants must also submit a letter of support to
guidance along with their narrative:
Letter(s)
of Support: at least one letter of support must be included. Students
may not write the letter of support.
- This letter must detail how the student has demonstrated excellence within ONE of the following areas: Academics, Activism, Athletics or Arts.
- The letter may also include any other relevant information that demonstrates the student’s qualifications to receive one of the Girls of the Year Awards.
The selected girls will be recognized at the Girls’ Rights
Week Reception on May 16, 2013 at the Haskell Building.
