I am reaching out from MOCA to share a volunteer opportunity that may interest your students at DA. We will have our Teen Teacher volunteer program for high school students to assist with our Summer Camp this year. The program details are below and the link to apply online. MOCA Summer Camp Teen Teacher Volunteer Opportunity
Teen Teachers are high school students between the ages of 15-18 who will provide assistance to MOCA Summer Camp instructors. Each Teen Teacher is required to volunteer for at least two full weeks during the summer. There will be a mandatory training session in May for all selected Teen Teachers. Applications are due by Friday, April 8.
Teen Teacher duties may include:
- Provide one-on-one assistance to campers during activities.
- Offer positive encouragement to campers.
- Address minor behavioral concerns with campers before they become a disruption.
- Assist with monitoring campers in all spaces of the Museum
- Assist Camp Staff with check-in and check-out process every day.
- Prepare materials for lessons and help maintain classroom organization.
- Model appropriate behavior to campers.
- Complete projects for examples, as needed.
- Be on time every day.
- Be active and engaged at all times throughout the day.
- Communicate with camp instructors to receive tasks and feedback.
- Follow appropriate dress code guidelines and wear nametags at all times while in the Museum.
- Record volunteer hours in the log at the front desk each day. Each Teen Teacher is expected to keep and accurate record of their own hours.
