Opportunities for teens to work, learn, and volunteer at the Zoo and Gardens! https://www.jacksonvillezoo.org/teens

ZooTeens! is a specialized program for teens between the ages of 13 and 17 years old who are in 9th-12th grade. Entry into this program is based on the teen's application and includes essay questions, a teacher evaluation, and interviews. The 2024 application is open now through March 8th, 2024! ZooTeens! is a year-round program but teens can choose to specialize in one of two tracks over the summer - as a conservation specialist and/or as a summer camp counselor. Conservation specialists educate zoo guests about conservation and ways they can help wildlife at home. Summer camp counselors engage with children attending summer camp using crafts and activities and assist with the campers in the zoo. ZooTeens! is a competitive and elite program; not all teens will be accepted.

Junior Volunteers program - serve in a variety of roles throughout our Zoo! The primary role for Junior Volunteers is Exhibit Hosting but teens will also have the opportunity to volunteer at the train dock, restaurants, and most special events including Spooktacular and ZooLights! This is a great way to get involved at the Zoo prior to applying for the ZooTeens! program or if you do not have the ability to commit to the ZooTeens! schedule. Junior volunteers are required to volunteer 4 hrs per month for at least 6 months. The next onboarding will be in May 2024.

The W.I.L.D. Program at the Jacksonville Zoo is designed to encourage diversity through a program designed to allow minority teens the opportunity to engage in cultural activities which encourage learning and community support.
